Forum - an app for the Root platform

1. About this App
Forum is an independent app built for the Root platform. It is installed by community administrators and runs inside its own channel within a Root community, where members can create threads, write posts, and reply to each other.
This app is not operated by Root Communications, Inc. Any data processed by the Root platform itself is covered by Root's own privacy policy.
2. Data We Process
When you use Forum, the following data may be processed:

Forum does not collect email addresses, location data, payment information, or contacts.
3. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used only to:
- display threads and posts to members of your community
- enable moderation by community administrators
- keep the app secure and working properly
- fix bugs and improve the app
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or tracking.
Posts you write in Forum are visible to all members of the community who have access to the Forum channel. Please keep this in mind before sharing personal information in your posts.
4. Storage
All app data is stored via the Root platform. We take reasonable measures to protect it against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.
5. Sharing
We never sell your data. It is only shared:
- with Root Communications, Inc., since the app runs on the Root platform
- if required by law
6. Data Retention
- Threads and posts are kept for as long as Forum is installed in the community, unless they are deleted by the author or a moderator.
- Deleted posts are permanently removed within 30 days.
- If Forum is removed from a community, all related data is deleted within 30 days.
- Error logs are deleted after 14 days at the latest.
7. Your Rights
Depending on where you live (e.g. under the GDPR in the EU), you may have the right to:
- access the data we hold about you
- correct inaccurate data
- delete your data
- restrict or object to processing
- receive your data in a portable format
- withdraw consent at any time
- lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority
You can delete your own posts directly in Forum at any time. For all other requests, contact the developer through Forum's page in the Root Store.
8. Children
Use of Root requires meeting Root's minimum age requirements. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. If you believe this has happened, please contact us.
9. Changes
We may update this policy when the app or legal requirements change. The current version is always available at this link.
